IVSS

IVSS: Intelligent Vehicle Safety Systems

The IVSS Program is a joint venture by Swedish public-sector agencies, private-sector companies and industry organizations that was set up to stimulate research and development for the road safety of the future. The IVSS Program aims at moving the emphasis from passive safety solutions to active systems. Hence, preventing problems from arising in the first place.

Mecel is one of the partners in one the biggest projects within the IVSS program, i.e. SEnsor Fusion for Safety systems. We believe that programs such as IVSS lay the ground for sustainable future technologies and solutions for automotive safety. Mecel with it´s focus and expertise on safety will continue its cooperation with academia and industrial partners to develop the future automotive safety systems.

KTH

Machine Design, part of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management.

Machine Design at KTH is unique due its broad coverage of modern machine design including integration of computer and information technology into products and processes, and due to a distinctive focus on the integrated product development process. Priority areas in research and education are:

  • Integrated product development
  • System and component design
  • Mechatronics and embedded systems
  • Internal combustion engines
Mecel have a PhD student, Anders Sandberg located at KTH for studies in "Requirements, Validation and Verification of Active Safety Systems". The research is funded by the KK-foundation through the research school SAVE-IT.

Victoria

The Viktoria Institute was founded in 1997 at the initiative of the local industry in West Sweden. The objective is to do research, and in addition also development and education, in applied information technology in collaboration with the industry, the public sector and universities. Today Viktoria Institute is part of Swedish ICT Research.

Since 2001 Mecel is member of the local industry group supporting Viktoria. Managing Director of Mecel Kent Eric Lång has been chairman of the Board of Viktoria Institute. Mecel participates in co-funded research projects together with other industry companies. We appreciate the competence sharing with academia and industrial network.

ENCRESS

ENCRESS, European Network of Clubs for Reliability and Safety of Software, is a European-wide organization for professionals in the field of software applications with requirements for safety and reliability. Most of the members of the Swedish ENCRESS club come from small and large Swedish enterprises, but members also come from universities or research institutes. There are national ENCRESS clubs in other European countries.

Mecel has been active in the Swedish ENCRESS club since 2000. The ENCRESS network and meetings offer an excellent possibilities for collaboration and cross fertilization between safety experts from different engineering disciplines.
