Model Based Engineering
At Mecel we are continuously looking at increasing our effectivity by using state of the art tools and methodologies. Recent surveys have identified that about 50% of the errors found during testing and verification efforts can be related to poor or misinterpreted specifications.
The use of a model based development approach is a very good way of improving quality and shorten lead times. Modeling the system provides a way to verify the specifications before they are implemented. It also gives a good overview of the system which results in great improvements in reusability and maintainability of the system.
In all of our current distributed systems we use a Model based development approach with UML 2.0 to model/describe the system. UML is in our opinion unparalleled when it comes to create understanding amongst engineers on a system level not only for the automotive business but also e.g. Telecom and PC business.
