Standardization
We are active in a numerous standardization activities to enable faster and more cost efficient solutions for the automotive industry.
AUTOSAR
AUTOSAR - (Automotive Open System Archictecture) an international development partnership with the goal of establishing a common software infrastructure standard for vehicle electronics.
Bluetooth
Mecel has been a member of the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) since May 1998. The great success of Bluetooth can be attributed to the enormous effort put into the standardisation work by all SIG members, and to the Un-Plug Fests (UPF) concept where potential interoperability problems between different implementations of the standard are detected and dealt with before products are released to the open market.
CAN, MOST and Diagnostics
Mecel has for more than 25 years been an active part in standardisation of vehicle communication and vehicle diagnostics. This work is carried out in industry consortiums such as OSEK, MOST and Autosar, but also by active participation in various ISO groups e.g. ISO/TC22/SC3/WG1 Serial Data Communication and its Task Forces TF2 Diagnostics on CAN and TF5 Diagnostic Requirements.5
Functional Safety
As the complexity of the automotive EE systems increase, the requirements for functional safety become more prominent in development work. This has generated a need for worldwide cooperation between automotive OEMs and suppliers. Since 2005 Mecel has been involved in two of the most important standardization initiatives within the area of automotive functional safety, i.e. the AUTOSAR Safety Working Group and the ISO 26262 Working Group.
