Functional Safety
As the complexity of the automotive EE systems increase, the requirements for functional safety become more prominent in development work. This has generated a need for worldwide cooperation between automotive OEMs and suppliers. Since 2005 Mecel has been involved in two of the most important standardization initiatives within the area of automotive functional safety, i.e. the AUTOSAR Safety Working Group and the ISO 26262 Working Group.
In the AUTOSAR standardisation, Mecel is an active part in the Safety WG. The Group has an ultimate goal to provide the AUTOSAR architecture with the measures necessary for deployment of applications with the highest Safety Integrity Level, SIL, requirements.
Mecel is one of the four Swedish representatives in the ISO 26262 functional safety working group. Together with Volvo Car Corporation, Mecel leads the work in the Swedish ISO 26262 working group.
Requirements for functional safety will affect the majority of automotive EE systems in future. Mecel's activities within the standardization bodies enable us to provide our customers with state of the art solutions for the development of safer automotive systems.
