The idea of ISO26262 – for functional safety
In 2007, Dr Håkan Sivencrona from Mecel and Dr. Rolf Johansson from Mentor Graphics began to develop a concept for development of safety related software in compliance with the ISO 26262 standard. Their mission was clear: To make automotive software developed according to ISO 26262 simpler and foremost safer.

ISO 26262 voted to become International Standard
Mecel has since 2005 been involved in a working group dedicated to set a new international standard for Functional Safety of Automotive Systems. The new standard, ISO 26262, is now approved and can be used instead of the available standards on functional safety like IEC 61508.
Mecel has taken part in SEFS - Sensor Data Fusion for Automotive Safety Systems project
SEFS (Sensor data Fusion for automotive Safety systems) is a Swedish IVSS Initiative on Sensor Data Fusion. The aim is to create future automotive safety systems with sensor data fusion technologies. The project is a close collaboration between Mecel, Volvo and Swedish universities.
Mecel celebrates 10 years as leading Bluetooth software provider
In 1999 Mecel was the first company in history to show Bluetooth in a vehicle. It was on the IAA show in Frankfurt in and Mecel was responsible for the Bluetooth head-set connectivity solution displayed.
