How to boot Linux in <0,2 sec
A rising need for automotive-dashboard systems to come up quickly prompted the development of a fast-booting Linux.
We wanted to see just how fast it could boot an embedded device.
"It was a challenge and every millisecond is hard earned."
Anders Arnholm, project manager explains. "Luckily we like
challenges". And persistence pays offs as Mecel engineers states
that they now can boot a Linux in less than 0,2 seconds.
Impressive, and beating the previous stated times being around 1
second. "I have not heard of anyone booting close that that
fast." says Anders Arnholm. "We have trimmed the start-up time
of the Linux kernel on low end hardware, and got a very encouraging
result"
