PRESS RELEASE - Mecel Introduces Mecel Populus 3.0, an Effortless and Cost-Effective Way to Design Human Machine Interfaces for Vehicles
Göteborg, Sweden – Mecel AB, a subsidiary of Delphi Corporation, releases its Populus Suite in version 3.0. Mecel Populus is a complete software solution that gives vehicle manufacturers more flexibility, shortens time-to-market and drastically reduces the cost of designing Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for vehicles.
Mecel's Populus Engine and Populus Editor help car manufacturers reduce software development time, dramatically lower cost and reduce time-to-market. The database-driven HMI requires no traditional coding; when the information stored in the database changes, the interface also changes. Using the Mecel Populus Editor means that a new interface can be created quickly and its creators can immediately see how the interface will look in the vehicle.
The traditional software development approach is increasingly complex, resulting in high cost for software development, test and verification. There is also complexity and cost associated with brand differentiation; the desire for every branded variant to have a different look and feel while keeping the software and hardware platform intact.
