Volvo Group and BAE Systems starts R&D project together with Mecel
Mecel together with AB Volvo and BAE Systems got a Vinnova funding for an R&D project.
The project will start in May this year and first phase will be
finalised in the end of 2011. The objective of the project is to
present a control system architecture for series hybrid vehicles with
hub electrical motors including drive-by-wire solutions.
The architecture shall fulfill safety requirements as well as
functional requirements needed for the integration of various vehicle
subsystems and drive line components.
The intention is to adapt the activities of the project to the upcoming
functional safety standard ISO 26262,
which is expected to become an important standard for the automotive
industry as e.g. more “x-by-wire” functions are introduced. The control
system should also be developed by using other automotive standards as
AUTOSAR for the
software platform and FlexRay for communication.
